Bows & Butterflies

Description:

This beautiful Queen sized quilt in lilac and sage colors is hand pieced and hand quilted. This was quilted during the winter of 2017 and has my best museum quality hand stitches. I made my own design for heart quilting designs and used dark purple thread I inherited from my Auntie Belva who taught me the love of quilting.
I had a hard time finding the name of this block Butterflies at the Crossroads. I tried it in the soft greens first and the pattern didn't pop until I redid the block in the dark purple. I stitched all the blocks by hand and didn't want to dispose of any so altered my layout and 'love' it.
The bow border is a variation of one found in "It's Okay if you sit on my Quilt Book" by Mary Ellen Hopkins (1989) one of my favorite quilting books!

Size/Dimensions:

90" X 94"

Show History

The main pattern I saw on a bed years ago in indigo blue and couldn't find the pattern. After extensive searching I found it in tutorials on the Farmer's Wife Sampler I believe block #32 the name is Butterfly at the Crossroads.
After I finished the quilt before I entered this page on my website I spent another hour search on the internet to find the name of the block. For some reason it doesn't stay with me because I really don't see a butterfly I see flower petals.
November 2016 we made a trip to Mesa, AZ and visited the Mormon Temple I was surprised that the interior is decorated with the soft lilac and sage green colors I had just bought for this quilt.
